Sanitas health insurance for the Non-Lucrative Visa
Spain’s Non-Lucrative Visa requires health cover arranged for that
purpose. Sanitas issues two visa products for it, and this is where to work out which one
is open to you, what each covers, and what to have settled before you apply.
Full private healthcare through Sanitas’s contracted network in Spain, with no copayments and no waiting periods, and repatriation cover included. The wider age range of the two.
The same Spanish network — also with no copayments, and no waiting periods on the core health-insurance cover — plus a second route: a worldwide network of participating centres, used with prior authorisation. A narrower age range.
Your age on the start date
Both products assess age on the intended policy start date, not the day you enquire. A
birthday in between changes which products are open.

Your intended start date
Cover does not begin until the first premium is paid, so the date needs choosing rather

Any medical history
Health questions arrive at application stage, not at quote stage, and are separate from the
no-copayment and no-waiting-period position.
What that involves

Who is being insured
Couples and families are built person by person, and the under-14 rule shapes how.
What you will need
Not sure which product is open to you?Send the dates of birth and the start date you have in mind. An adviser will confirm which products are available to each person before you commit to anything.
A joint application is built person by person rather than as a single unit, and two rules
shape it:
Age is tested per insured person, on the start date. In a couple either
side of Platinum’s age limit, one may be inside its range and the other not. Worth
raising before quoting.
Persons under 14 can only be included where the people holding their custody or
guardianship are insured too. That shapes how a family policy is built before
anyone prices it.
Health questions are completed at application stage for the people being insured. Nothing
medical is asked when you request a quote.
Next Steps
A short checklist
Work out your age on the intended start date. That decides which of the
two products are open to you.
Decide where you expect to use the policy. Spain only, or Spain plus
participating centres elsewhere. That is the difference between the two products.
Pick a start date you can actually meet. Cover begins once the first
premium is paid.
Request a quote. Dates of birth, intended start date, where you are
heading. No medical questions at this stage.
Complete the application and pay. The health questionnaire sits here,
and your documentation follows.

Check which options are open to you
One short form covers both products. An adviser confirms which are open to each person
and prepares a personalised quote response, subject to eligibility and underwriting.
There are two visa products: Residents Visado, open to age
75, and Residents Platinum Visado, open to
age 64. Which are open to you is decided by
your age on the intended start date; which you choose between them depends on where you
expect to use the policy. The comparison.
Yes. Sanitas issues a separate Visado version of each, with its
own conditions. Confirm the product name on your documentation before submitting it
anywhere.
Neither, on either Visado product. No copayments — sin
copagos: you do not pay a separate per-use copayment when you use covered
services. No waiting periods — sin carencias: on Residents Visado the General Conditions state that coverages are available from the effective date of the contract. Residents Platinum Visado has no waiting periods on its core health-insurance cover. The full explanation. No-copayment
does not mean every treatment is covered — it means no per-use charge for services
that are covered. No copayments in full · No waiting periods.
Some Spanish consulates expressly require health insurance without
copayments, while published wording varies between consulates. Always check the current
requirements of the consulate handling your application. The Visado products are arranged
without copayments and waiting periods — check both points against the current
requirements published by your consulate.
At application stage, in the insurer’s own process. The quote form
asks no medical or health questions.
Yes. A joint application is built person by person: age is tested for
each insured person on the start date, and persons under 14 can only be included where the
people holding their custody or guardianship are insured too.
The age attained and the geographical zone are among the factors the conditions name, and the price is annual, with division into biannual payments possible for a surcharge. A quoted premium reflects the people being insured and the cover being arranged.
