NLV Health Insurance Over 60

Aged 60–64, both Sanitas visa products can sit within their entry ages at the same time — but that is worked out against the day cover begins, not the day you ask. This band is the one where a birthday in between can move the answer, so what follows covers that crossing: what it changes, what it leaves alone, and what is worth settling while both products are still in range. This guide covers start-date ages 60–64; from 65 upward, the over-65 page takes it on.

Both Products Open

The band where both products can still be open.

Two Sanitas visa products carry two different entry ages, and both are read the same way: against the age you will be on the policy start date. If that age is at or below 64, both products are open to apply for. If it is above 64 and no more than 75, Sanitas Residents Visado is. Both limits are inclusive.

One date carries the whole calculation

The day cover is due to begin. The age you happen to be while reading this, while asking us for a quote, or while completing an application does not enter into it — which is why an answer given against today’s date can be the wrong answer to the question you are actually asking.

That matters more in this band than in any other. Between 60 and 64 a birthday can fall between the enquiry and the start date and take your start-date age above the Platinum entry age — the same person, the same year, a different set of products. The age guide holds the rule itself and every band; here we take the rule as read and work on the crossing.

What To Settle First

How a date becomes an answer.

1

You name an intended start date

Before quoting rather than after, ideally — everything below is measured from it. Choosing it deliberately.

2

The age on that date is worked out

For each person to be insured, from date of birth against that start date. Not from the age anyone is today.

3

That age decides what can be applied for

At or below 64: both products. Above it, up to and including 75: Residents Visado.

4

The application is then assessed

On the insurer’s health questionnaire — the agreement is closed on the declarations made in it. What that involves.

Step three is the only step in that sequence where your age does any work at all. It opens an application; it does not settle one.

Turning 65 Before You Start

What crossing the Platinum entry age changes.

This is the part worth knowing before a date is fixed. One line of the contract behaves differently on the two sides of the boundary. The rest behaves identically.

Which products can be applied for Both visa products, each within its own entry-age range. Sanitas Residents Visado. This is the row that moves.
The choice between them Yours: the network route on its own, or the network plus a reimbursement route for treatment arranged outside it. The comparison. Made by the entry ages rather than by you — which at least makes the decision shorter.
Waiting periods None. The conditions state all coverages are available from the effective date of the contract. Unchanged.
The health questionnaire Required. The agreement is closed on the basis of the declarations made in it. Unchanged.
Premium basis and payment Annual. The first premium must be paid before cover takes effect; division into biannual payments is possible with a surcharge. Unchanged.
Age as a premium factor Age attained is named in the conditions among the factors used to calculate the premium. What else is named. Unchanged — the factor is named at every age. Your own figure comes back with your quote.
After the visa is issued Evidence of visa issuance must be provided within two months of the policy start date, or the contract terminates automatically under the stated terms. Unchanged.

Monetary amounts are omitted throughout: the conditions delegate them to the Particular Conditions issued with an individual policy.

One row out of seven. That is the honest size of the change, and it is worth stating plainly because the crossing gets described as though something happens to your cover. Nothing happens to your cover. What changes is the shelf you are choosing from.

Choosing Between Them

Two decisions that are live now.

Both of these are easier to make while both products remain open on your intended date than to revisit once one of them has closed. Neither is urgent in the sense of a deadline — they are simply questions that stop being questions once the crossing has happened.

Tell us each date of birth and the start date you have in mind, and we will tell you which products are in range on that date before anything is quoted — including when the answer is one rather than two.

  • Which route you actually want. The two visa products differ in how care can be arranged: the contracted network alone, or the network plus a reimbursement route for treatment arranged outside it. That is a real choice in this band and only in this band — the comparison settles it on cover grounds.
  • The start date itself. It sets the age that gets measured, and it is also the date the first-premium rule and the visa-evidence obligation run from. The start-date guide covers choosing it.
  • Who is applying. Each person’s age is assessed on the same policy start date, so two people can land on different sides of the same line. Whether that is then handled as one policy or two is confirmed case by case — the age guide explains why we won’t describe a structure we haven’t verified.
If The Birthday Lands First

If the birthday lands before the date you want.

It is a date calculation, not a verdict

An entry age is a product rule applied to a date — the age guide sets out what that does and does not settle. Sanitas Residents Visado remains open to apply for on that date, within its own entry-age range.

Moving the date is not a route round the rule

An earlier start date has to reflect a genuine need for cover to begin then. It means paying for cover from that earlier date, and it still has to sit consistently with the documentation and the requirements applicable to your application. Choosing one purely to stay inside an entry age is not what the date is for — and it is a decision worth talking through rather than making alone.

What we can do about it

Send us each date of birth and the start date you have in mind and we will work out which products are in range on that date, before a quote is prepared rather than after. If the answer is one product rather than two, we will say so plainly and explain what that leaves you with.

Get Started

Check which products your start date allows

Send us each date of birth and the start date you have in mind. We’ll come back with which of the two Sanitas visa products are within range on that date — and if a birthday changes the answer, you will hear that before a quote is built on it.

Common Questions

Your questions, answered.

Not on its own. The age that counts is the one you will be on the policy start date, so if a birthday falls between now and then, the later age is the one measured. Give us the date you have in mind and it stops being a guess.
It can change which products you are able to apply for, and age attained is named in the conditions among the factors used to calculate the premium. It does not change the waiting-period position, the questionnaire requirement, the premium basis, or the obligation to evidence your visa afterwards — the table above sets the two sides out row by row.
Not for that reason on its own — the crossing section above sets out why moving the date is not a route round the rule. It is a real trade-off rather than a trick, and the start-date guide covers everything else the date affects.
They are different products rather than ranked ones. What separates them is how care can be arranged and which supplementary cover types exist — the comparison sets out what genuinely differs, and what it refuses to compare. On a date where only one is in range, that comparison simply isn’t live.
Entirely possible, because each person’s age is assessed on the same policy start date. Whether that is handled as one policy or two is confirmed case by case, and we won’t describe a structure we haven’t verified — the age guide explains why. Raise it early: it shapes how the application is put together.
The crossing has already happened, so the product question is settled and the work moves elsewhere — NLV health insurance over 65 covers what matters there. The age guide holds the bands above this one.
