Sanitas health insurance for Spain's Non-Lucrative Visa

Spain's Non-Lucrative Visa requires health cover arranged for that purpose. Sanitas issues two visa policies for it. We arrange them — and we make sure you understand what you are signing before you do.

  • Two Sanitas visa policies, both with no copayments — and no waiting periods at all on Residents Visado
  • Applications and renewals, from first question through to your certificate
  • Straight answers on age and medical history, including when the answer is no
Sanitas Visa Health Insurance

Two visa policies, and what separates them

Sanitas issues a visa version of each of its Residents policies. Which of them are open to you is decided by your age on the intended policy start date; choosing between the ones that are open turns on where you expect to use the cover.

Visa Policy

Sanitas Residents

Visado version

Private healthcare through the Sanitas contracted network in Spain, with no copayments and no waiting periods, and repatriation cover included. The wider age range of the two.

Open to applicants up to age 75 on the policy start date.
Visa Policy · Enhanced

Sanitas Residents Platinum

Visado version

The same Spanish network — also with no copayments, and no waiting periods on the core health-insurance cover — plus a second route: a worldwide network of participating centres, used with prior authorisation. A narrower entry-age window.

Open to applicants up to age 64 on the policy start date.

Age settles which are available. Use settles the rest.

Common Questions

NLV insurance, answered

There is no universal yes to this. It depends on which product you take, what its documentation says, and the current checklist published by the consulate handling your application. Sanitas issues visa versions of its Residents policies for residence-visa applications, but we make no claim that either product satisfies any particular consulate's requirements — that is decided by the body that sets them. Work from your consulate's current checklist, and take independent immigration advice where you need it. Ask us to help you check the insurance documentation before you submit.
Neither, on either Visado product. No copayments — sin copagos: you do not pay a separate per-use copayment when you use covered services under the policy. No waiting periods — sin carencias: on Residents Visado the General Conditions state that the policy's coverages are available from the effective date of the contract. Residents Platinum Visado has no waiting periods on its core health-insurance cover. The full explanation. No-copayment does not mean every treatment or expense is covered — it means no per-use charge for services that are covered under the policy's terms. No copayments, explained.
Both, where both are open to you. Your age on the intended start date decides which are available; beyond that the choice is yours, and an adviser will set out what each one covers rather than pick for you. See them compared.
Yes — cover can be arranged in advance. What matters is choosing a start date that works with your application timeline, and knowing that cover does not begin until the first premium is paid. Choosing a start date.
Each applicant's age is assessed individually on the intended start date, so in a couple either side of an age limit one of you may be inside a policy's range and the other not. Worth raising before quoting, because it shapes how the policy is built.
It depends on age, the policy chosen, how many people are insured and where you will be living. What drives the price.
An adviser comes back to you through your preferred contact channel, confirms which Sanitas policies are open to each person, and tells you what is needed to complete your quote.
