NLV Health Insurance Over 65

Aged 65–69, one visa product is within its published entry-age range and one is not, on every start date within this band. What follows covers that change of route — what closes when the Platinum entry age is behind you, what does not, and what is genuinely still open — what you declare, what the start date still decides once it has stopped deciding availability. The ages worked here are 65–69 on the start date; 70 and above belong to the over-70 page.

The Short Answer

Four things you can stop worrying about

  1. Eligibility age is the age you will be on the policy start date — on both products, at every age. It is never the age you are on the day you enquire or apply.
  2. Above 64 and up to and including 75 on that date, Sanitas Residents Visado is the visa product within its entry-age range. Both limits are inclusive.
  3. Sanitas Residents Platinum Visado is not, because its entry age stops at 64.
  4. Being inside an entry age opens an application rather than settling one. Both products require a health questionnaire — the age guide holds that rule for every band.

The age guide carries the rule itself and every band, and the over-60 page works through the crossing that put you here. From this point on we take both as read and move to the part that still needs your attention.

What Closes At 65

One product route, and what that actually changes.

Below this band an applicant chooses between two visa products. At a start-date age above 64 that choice is no longer open, because Sanitas Residents Platinum Visado’s entry age stops at 64 and Sanitas Residents Visado’s runs to 75, both inclusive and both read on the policy start date. One product is within its published entry-age range in this band, and one is not.

What the route change does, and does not, do

It closes a comparison, not an application. The two products differ in how care is arranged — Residents Visado works through the Sanitas network, and Platinum Visado adds a route for treatment arranged outside it. In the band below, which of those an applicant prefers is a live decision. Here it is not, because only one of the two is within its entry-age range on the date that is measured.

It does not narrow what you have to do next. The health questionnaire is required at every age on both products, and the conditions state the agreement is closed on the basis of the declarations made in it. The age guide sets out what being within an entry age does and does not settle.

It does not mean a narrower product. An entry age is a rule about who may apply, not a statement about what the cover contains. What Residents Visado contains is the same in this band as in any other, and the comparison page sets out how the two differ for anyone who needs to know why the route closed. What a quote is built from is the same here as in any band, and the cost guide lists it.

This is the whole of the change. The year after 64 alters which of the two visa products can be applied for. It does not alter the health questionnaire, how the insurer assesses what is declared in it, or the documentation an application needs, and nothing else on this site turns on it. The over-60 page works through the crossing itself, for anyone whose birthday and start date still sit on opposite sides of it.

What Still Matters

What actually matters at this age.

With one route in range, four things carry the outcome — and none of them is settled by an age band.

Your declarations
The questionnaire is required at every age, and it asks about your history rather than about your age.
The route that closed
Which visa product is within its entry-age range here, and what that changes about applying.
The start date
In this band it no longer changes which product is open. It still decides several other things.
The documentation
What your policy documents say, and the obligation that runs from the start date printed on them — the certificate guide covers both.
Age And The Health Questions

What your age has to do with the health questions.

Less than the internet suggests, and it is worth being precise about it. Both visa products require a health questionnaire, and the conditions state that the agreement is closed on the basis of the declarations made in it. That requirement is identical at every age.

Beyond it, the policy conditions do not set out an additional medical requirement, a different questionnaire, or a different basis of assessment attached to any age band. We do not assert one, and we would treat a page that did as guessing. What we also will not do is turn that silence into a promise in the other direction: whether the insurer asks for anything further follows from its own assessment of your application, not from a rule about age we could show you.

Where the medical part actually happens

Not here. The quote form asks no medical or health questions, and you should not put medical detail into it — health information is collected in the insurer’s own application process, as part of the application itself. The disclosure guide covers what is asked, what to have in front of you before you answer, and why accuracy is the part of this you control.

One thing worth carrying over from that guide rather than discovering later: the conditions attach real consequences to an inaccurate or incomplete declaration, and they are set out there in full rather than summarised into a sentence here.

The Start Date

In this band, moving the date does not move the answer.

Start-date advice written for a younger applicant is largely about keeping a product in range. That is not the question here. So long as the age you will be on the start date stays above 64 and no more than 75, moving the date does not change which visa product is within its entry-age range — and a birthday falling between the enquiry and the start date does not change it either. That is the difference between this band and the one below, which spends a whole page on exactly that crossing.

The date still decides a great deal that is not about eligibility: when cover begins, what your documentation says, and what your premium is calculated from. The start-date guide is where that decision gets made, and the over-70 page works through what a future start date or an intervening birthday does as the upper entry age comes into view.

A Wrong Assumption

Past one boundary is not near the other.

The two get run together, so it is worth separating them plainly. Being above the Platinum entry age says nothing at all about being close to the Residents one. The upper entry age is 75, inclusive, read on the policy start date, and the bands between here and there behave in exactly the same way.

NLV health insurance over 70 covers the band where that upper boundary comes into view, and the over-75 page is where the boundary itself is worked — 75 on the start date, 76 and above, and exactly what we offer in each case.

Common Questions

Your questions, answered.

It narrows the choice of product, which is not the same as narrowing your cover. What the remaining product covers is set by its own conditions together with the Particular Conditions issued with your policy — and the comparison sets out what actually differs between the two, and what it refuses to compare.
The policy conditions do not set out a different questionnaire or an extra medical requirement attached to any age band, and we won’t invent one. What is asked of you medically, and by whom, is the disclosure guide’s subject.
No. Nothing we can point at in the documents. The application, the questionnaire, the first-premium rule and the visa-evidence obligation read the same at this age as at any other. What is different is that the product choice has already been made for you. How to apply sets out the stages.
On any start date in this band only one of the two is within its entry-age range, so the second quote would be for a product that cannot be applied for on that date. If you are not sure which band your start-date age falls into — because the date itself is still moving — give us the date of birth and the range you are considering, and the age guide shows how it resolves.
