Eligibility · The Entry-Age Boundary

NLV Health Insurance Over 75

If you are 75 on the policy start date, Sanitas Residents Visado remains within its confirmed entry-age limit, subject to underwriting. If you are 76 or older on that date, you are outside the published standard entry age. We can review whether any available Sanitas route exists, but we do not promise one.

The Boundary

“Over 75” describes two different positions.

In ordinary search language the phrase covers the applicant who is that age and the applicant who is older than it. Those are not the same position, and the difference is not one of degree. Almost everything else worth knowing here follows from which of the two you are — on one particular date.

The rule, stated exactly

Age 75 remains within the Sanitas Residents Visado entry-age limit while the applicant is 75 on the policy start date. Once the applicant’s start-date age reaches 76, they are outside the published standard entry age.

The limit is inclusive. Reaching it does not put you outside it. An applicant who is 75 on the policy start date is within the entry age and can apply for Sanitas Residents Visado, and the application is then assessed like any other. That is what “subject to underwriting” is doing in the opening sentence, and the section below unpacks it.

This guide covers start-date age 75 itself, together with the direct answer for 76 and above. If your age on the policy start date will be below this boundary, the over-70 page covers the band directly beneath it, and the age hub routes every band from one place.

The Date That Counts

The line is fixed. You move across it.

The entry-age limit does not shift, and it is not applied to the age you happen to be while you are reading this. It is applied to your age on the policy start date — the date chosen for cover to begin.

Which makes a birthday sitting between an enquiry and that date rather more than a detail. It is what decides which of the two positions above you are in, and it decides it silently unless somebody checks.

  • The policy start date is the measurement date. Not today’s date, not the date you enquire, not the date the application is made.
  • A birthday falling before the start date moves the applicant across the line. The line itself never moves.
  • The same applicant can sit on either side of it depending only on the date chosen for cover to begin.
  • Which is why the date is worth confirming before it is agreed, rather than after.
Three Worked Cases

The same rule, read on three dates.

Illustrative throughout — the dates are here to show which side of the boundary a start date puts someone on, not to suggest a schedule. Choosing the date itself is covered in the start-date guide.

Illustrative example — dates are for illustration only

The start date falls before the birthday

An applicant with a birthday on 12 October asks for cover to begin on 1 September. On 1 September they are 75.

  • On that date they are within the confirmed entry-age limit for Sanitas Residents Visado and can apply, subject to underwriting.
  • Being at the limit is not being outside it. Inclusive means the age itself counts as inside.
At the limit is inside the limit.

The same applicant, a start date after the birthday

Same person, same birthday of 12 October — but cover is arranged to begin on 1 November instead. On 1 November they are 76.

  • On that date they are outside the published standard entry age. Nothing about the applicant has changed; the date read against the rule has.
  • What we can offer from that point is a review of whether any available Sanitas route exists — described exactly, and only, in the section below.
  • An earlier start date should reflect a genuine coverage and application need, not be selected solely to remain within an entry-age limit. It may also mean paying for cover earlier, and it must remain consistent with the documentation and requirements applicable to the application.
Same person, same year, two different positions.

Every candidate date falls on the same side

A third applicant will be 76 or older on every start date they could realistically use.

  • No choice of date brings them back inside the published standard entry age, and we will not hint that one might.
  • What exists is the review, and we would rather say so at the beginning of a conversation than at the end of one.
Where the date cannot help, we say so.
At 75

The second half of that opening sentence.

“Subject to underwriting” is doing real work, and it deserves reading as carefully as the age does. Being within an entry-age limit means an application can be made. It does not mean the application has been decided.

Both visa products are arranged on a health questionnaire, and the conditions state that the agreement is closed on the basis of the declarations made in it. The insurer assesses the application from those declarations. That assessment is separate from your age, it belongs to the insurer rather than to us, and we will not predict it. The underwriting guide explains how disclosure works and what to have ready before you answer.

So there are two things to satisfy, in order: the entry age, read on the policy start date, and then the assessment. The entry age is settled exactly below. The assessment is a separate matter, and one we will not pretend to.

At 76 And Above

At 76 and above, exactly what we offer.

Set out in both directions, because a page that only says what it can do is not being straight with you.

What the review is

  • We can look at whether any available Sanitas route exists for your circumstances.
  • You can ask for it directly, and you can ask for it before committing to anything.
  • If no available Sanitas route can be identified, we will tell you clearly.

What the review is not

  • It is not a promise that a route exists. There is nothing that establishes one, which is exactly why the offer is a review rather than an answer.
  • It is not encouragement dressed up as a process. We will not imply that something will be found in order to keep a conversation going.
  • It is not a judgement about you, or about your health. An entry age is a rule in a product’s own conditions; it applies to every applicant at that age, and it is settled before any application is made.

And nothing beyond it

We do not list alternative insurers here. If a Sanitas route is not open to you, an adviser will tell you plainly rather than point you toward something we cannot stand behind.

Common Questions

Your questions, answered.

No. The entry-age limit for Sanitas Residents Visado is inclusive: an applicant who is 75 on the policy start date is within it and can apply, subject to underwriting. It is once an applicant’s start-date age reaches 76 that they are outside the published standard entry age.
The age you will be on the policy start date. If the birthday falls before that date, the older age applies — whatever age you were when you enquired, and whatever age you were on the day the application was made. At this boundary that single fact can decide the whole question, so it is worth checking before the date is agreed.
No. The limit is inclusive of the age itself: being 75 on the policy start date is inside it, for the whole of that year of your life. The boundary falls at the following birthday, when the applicant becomes 76.
Only where that date is the one you genuinely need cover to begin on. The worked cases above set out the position in full, including what an earlier date costs you and what it must stay consistent with. It is not a lever to be pulled for an entry age.
No. Nothing has been applied for and nothing has been assessed. An entry age is a rule about who may apply, applied to a date, and it is settled before any application exists — so being outside it is not a decision about you, and it is not something an insurer has decided. What we offer above the line is set out in full in the section above.
No. An entry age is a rule written into a product’s own conditions. It applies to every applicant at that age, it is read from a date rather than from anything about you, and it is settled before any application is made. What the insurer assesses from a health questionnaire is a separate matter entirely, and the underwriting guide covers it.
